Join us on Friday, the 13th of June at 8.00 a.m. for the Irish Chamber of Commerce Singapore's June Friday Breakfast for an insightful breakfast session about 'The World of Quantum and Why it Matters' presented by Dr Pooja Jayachandran, Senior Scientist at Horizon Quantum.
In this session, we'll explore the fascinating world of quantum physics and its profound departure from classical intuition. We'll begin by examining foundational concepts such as superpositionโthe idea that particles can exist in multiple states simultaneouslyโand entanglement, where particles remain correlated regardless of distance. These counterintuitive principles not only challenge our understanding of reality but also lay the groundwork for a new era in technology: quantum computing.
Much like classical computers in their infancy, quantum computers are now at an inflection point, showing immense promise but facing practical hurdles. We'll discuss how recent breakthroughs in quantum error correction are overcoming these challenges, bringing us closer to scalable, reliable quantum machines.
This talk aims to bridge the abstract world of quantum theory with the tangible future it is shaping, illustrating why quantum physics is not just a theoretical curiosity, but a transformative force in modern computing.
Our regular breakfast series provides a relaxed environment to build new connections over light refreshments. Not a fan of networking but want to meet new people? Not a problem! Members can invite one new guest to attend. We'll also make sure someone from the Chamber is on hand to make some introductions.
