In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, EuroCham Singapore, in partnership with the Irish Chamber of Commerce Singapore, will host a special event aimed at fostering dialogue on the importance of breast cancer awareness, early detection, and the impact of this illness on both personal and professional life. This event will bring together a diverse panel of speakers, including the Ambassador of Ireland to Singapore, a breast cancer survivor who will share her personal journey and insights.
We will also have a Managing Director from a multinational corporation, the General Manager of the Breast Cancer Foundation (non-profit organisation) and a distinguished surgeon specialising in breast cancer treatment.
The event will explore key themes, such as the profound effect of breast cancer on well-being, its influence in the workplace, and the critical role of preventive care. Our panellists will discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by individuals and organisations alike in navigating this journey, as well as the importance of early detection and the role of the community in supporting those affected.
This event is an opportunity for attendees to gain a deeper understanding of the multifaceted impact of breast cancer, learn best practices for preventive care, and engage in meaningful discussions on how to build a more supportive and informed society.

H.E. Sarah McGrath, The Ambassador of Ireland to Singapore at Embassy of Ireland, Singapore
Sarah McGrath is a career diplomat with over 20 years' experience in the Irish foreign service who is currently serving as Ireland's Ambassador to Singapore.
Immediately prior to her appointment as Ambassador of Ireland to Singapore, she served as Director for UN and International Financial Institutions in the Development Cooperation and Africa Division of the Department's headquarters in Dublin. A significant portion of Ambassador McGrath's career has been focussed on the Northern Ireland peace process, most recently as Political and Reconciliation Director from 2015- 2018.
She has served overseas at the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations in New York and the Embassy of Ireland to Germany in Berlin and has been the Director of the Department's Strategy and Performance Unit.
Ambassador McGrath is from the village of Clarecastle in County Clare in the mid-west of Ireland. She graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Law from University College Cork in 2001 before joining the Department of Foreign Affairs. She is an alumnus of the US State Department International Visitor Leadership Programme (2019) and the Institute for Public Affairs Leadership Challenge Programme (2017).
She was diagnosed with ER positive breast cancer in May 2020 at the age of 39 and two surgeries, 8 rounds of chemotherapy, 20 rounds of radiotherapy and one 40th birthday spent in hospital during a pandemic completed active treatment in March 2021. Three and half years on she is proud to call herself a breast cancer survivor.
